Most of you will know how much a labour of love this company is, and how passionate I am about supporting the women’s rugby community. I’m obsessed with giving back to this sport a fraction of what it’s given me. @ruggette_rfc is my way of trying to leave my proverbial jersey a little better than I found it. For a long time that felt conceptual, but now, I feel like it will be achievable- because of you.
It started with a handful of t’s and jumpers, enough to fill a large suitcase. Add in a website built by a complete amateur (me😂), several google adventures involving shipping labels, and no advertising budget- the business grew slowly, order by order, through word of mouth and social media- which is a fancy way of saying, it grew because of you.
That suitcase became two, and then three, and then a closet, and then a spare room- and after a year, it funded the development, sampling, and testing of the first major goal the brand had: a properly fitting women’s rugby short. The Clubhouse Short is no longer the only short in the catalog, and it’s about to get even more siblings, but it will always hold a special place in my heart for being something that seemed impossible, until it didn’t- because of you.
This week, Ruggette RFC takes the next step. For the first time, it’s not going to be just me. It’s moving out of that spare room, spreading its wings, supported by an entire team who believes in the why behind the try, complete with professional shipping fulfilment, larger-scale production, and a *much* nicer website. And that’s just the beginning.
To everyone who has been a part of this journey, however big or small, this milestone is as much yours as it is mine. I wish you could stand in this empty spare room with me and cry. Thank you. I love you. I’ll never be able to say it enough.
