Otherwise known as the Women's World Rugby Festival, RugbyFest in Christchurch 1990 invited national teams as well as provincial and club sides to Christchurch for a two-week event.
Although it was not the first tournament to involve multiple national teams, by this point, the first Women's Rugby World Cup in 1991 Wales was already on the calendar. That made Rugbyfest the perfect international rugby primer, setting the stage for what was to come.
